Working Bee – Thank You

A big thank you to everyone who turned up last Saturday morning to help tidy up around the Club.  It was a much-needed working bee, with a general clean-up of the gardens and carpark, including removing shrubs, pruning, new hedge plantings, laying stepping stones, repairing log barriers, and plenty of rubbish removal!

We are incredibly grateful to John Kelly and his fabulous team - Jennifer & Brett Yeats, Nick Vonthethoff, Steve Kyburz, and Sally & Mark Vardy - who all gave up their Saturday morning to help out.

Thank you all for your time, energy, and wonderful community spirit.  The Club truly benefits from efforts like these.

- Mary

Scongress

Playing bridge while eating freshly baked scones is a match made in heaven.  You can do this once a year at CBC at the SCONGRESS.  Put Sunday 17 May in your diary! This is a fundraising event for ACT's International players to help pay for their flights and accommodation.

There will also be a raffle with some excellent prizes.  Your support will assist the next generation of bridge players!

Lighter Moments

  • Why do koi fish travel in groups of four?
To protect the group from predators. When attacked, kois A, B, and C will go in one direction. The fourth one is the D koi.

Shoutout to Tamara who did a wonderful job with the newsletters for the past 3 weeks! Thanks Tamara, I enjoyed reading the travel jokes you put in for me. Despite most of travel jokes being about things going wrong, I am happy to report that everything went beautifully well and I had a lovely time. My favourite part of the trip was meeting the polite bowing deers at Nara, which coincidentally is Canberra's sister city. Happy to be back home however and I am sure that you've all missed me!

Best of luck to everyone who will be playing at Sapphire Coast on the weekend and to our members who will be attending the CBC Graded Butler Pairs on Saturday.

We've extended the deadline for registration till Friday so if you still haven't entered please do so today, this is going to be a great event!
