A Thank You and a Warm Welcome
Following our AGM on Tuesday evening, I would like to congratulate Wendy Boxall on becoming our new President and welcome the incoming Committee. I wish Wendy and the team every success as they continue the work of supporting our Club and its members.
I would also like to sincerely thank my outgoing Committee colleagues - Alison Russell-French (Vice President), Jenny Bergin (Treasurer), Caitlyn McKenzie (Secretary), Stephen Fischer and Lucy Stevenson. Thank you for your time, commitment, support and willingness to contribute to the running of our Club. I have appreciated working with you all.
Finally, a very special thank you to our members for giving me the opportunity to serve as President. After 13 years on Committee, it has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to contribute to a Club that means so much to me. I am proud of what we have worked towards together, and grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way.
I’m not saying goodbye to CBC - I’ll still be around enjoying my bridge and catching up with friends! I look forward to seeing the Club continue to grow and thrive under Wendy and the new Committee.
Thank you, everyone. ❤️
~Mary
New President's Message
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mary for all the incredible hard work, dedication, and heart she has put into our club.
I am deeply honoured to have the opportunity to serve the Canberra Bridge Club—a community that has been my bridge home for 30 years. A club is only as strong as its members, and it is the collective effort, kindness, and spirit of everyone here that makes this such a special place.
For our club to thrive, it is vital that we all lend a hand where we can. I am incredibly excited to step into this role, work alongside all of you, and continue making our club a welcoming and vibrant place for every player. Looking forward to a wonderful journey ahead together!
- Wendy
Club Charity
Every year our members choose a charity organisation to support. The club has set up a produce table supplied by our members with proceeds from the table going to our charity. This year Canberra Bridge Club is supporting Head and Neck Cancer Australia.
Founded by leading clinicians and supported by generous philanthropy, Head and Neck Cancer Australia (HANCA) was created to fill a critical gap in Australia’s cancer system - a national organisation people affected by Head and Neck Cancer could trust. From the outset, HANCA has been shaped by clinical expertise and people with lived experience, bringing patients, carers and clinicians together to build a community grounded in evidence, compassion and hope.
We ask that the members support our chosen charity by donating generously when taking something from the produce table.
