Thanks to the directors who have taken on extra and different loads this week – John Turner, Chris Stead and Max Mullamphy.

Also thanks to all members for making allowances for the solar installation project.

Best wishes,

Pam

10,000 Masterpoints and still counting

Large numbers of our members have spent recent times toiling away at the Summer Festival of Bridge, competing as best we could in the South West Pacific Open Teams, The Novice Swiss Pairs or a Women’s or Seniors event, and similarly at the Gold Coast Congress. For one member these things have coincided with a landmark event. Arjuna Delivera’s success in reaching the semi-finals of the Seniors and Open Teams events at the Summer Festival and more good bridge at the Gold Coast, have resulted in his Masterpoint metre ticking over the magic 10,000 Masterpoints! Arjuna therefore becomes Australia’s 8th Emerald Gold master. He joins another member, Margaret Bourke, who is also an Emerald Master - being 4th on the All Time Masterpoint list.

Arjuna has played a lot of bridge in his lifetime, from Representing Australia in Open International competition to being a regular Friday daytime duplicate player with our former club director Sean Mullamphy.

Congratulations Arjuna – your next target is to become Australia’s First Diamond Gold master – only another 5000 Masterpoints required.

Lighter Moments

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound that they make as they go by.

Solar installation – Friday 1st March

The Solarhub installation will recommence on Friday 1st March. They will need a space of 6 carparks (2 x 3) in the front carpark facing Duff Place, at the left hand end (that is the Gym end). PLEASE DO NOT DOUBLEPARK IN THAT AREA, as a truck will be delivering panels and will need access to that area.

Electricity interruption – Tuesday 5th March

ACTEW has to install a smart meter at the club to assist our operations with the solar panels. This work will take place on Tuesday 26 February between 8am and 5pm and will take between 20 minutes and three hours. We hope it will occur in the morning but ACTEW will not give us a time. We will still hold the afternoon bridge session. Claire will post an update on the website at midday on that day if you are concerned.

Membership renewal now overdue

If you would like to retain your CBC Membership for 2019, and have not yet paid your fees, please do so as they are now overdue. Membership fees can be paid to the managers, to the director, or via bank deposit (with your surname & ABF number in the reference field).
