Thank you CBC members from the ANC Committee

On behalf of Elainne and all of the organising committee, thank you to the Canberra Bridge Club, its committee and members for their generous assistance for the Australian National championships.

Dealing the boards is a large and essential part of any bridge event. Doing this job perfectly is vital to the smooth running of bridge.

In addition to that heavy load, CBC members have helped in every aspect of the organisation.

We appreciate your great support of the championships.

With best wishes,

Pam Crichton

The Wednesday Night Group

Wish to thank Richard Hills for his informative talk last Wednesday 2 August and the pizzas were an enjoyable treat.

A note from Peter Giles, our Immediate Past President

For those who read the newsletter you will know that our joint manager Lesley has decided to call it a day after 5 years in the role, firstly sharing with Val Holbrook and more recently with Kerry Butcher.

Having worked with Lesley for much of this time in various Committee roles I gained a full appreciation of the commitment that she has given to CBC. I would like to offer a very public thank you for her huge efforts and contribution to our club and her general support of myself.

Lesley's contribution extended way past the office. Working bees both inside and outside saw her rolling up her sleeves and just getting on with it. In so many roles and tasks Lesley was totally supported by her spouse Keith Mitchell. The combo were there (with sleeves rolled up), frequently the chain saw ripping away, the trailer full of rubbish. Other times out serving tea and coffee to other club members at working bees.

I would like to extend to Lesley and Keith the very best wishes for the next phase of their life - I hear retirement with renovation in their new home will be the go.

Again an extremely big thank you to Lesley and Keith.
