Three of our club members are in the Women’s Team representing Australia. We wish them all the best. They are Margaret Bourke, Marianne Bookallil and Jodi Tutti.
Arjuna De Livera is in the Senior’s Team.
Four members playing from the CBC is a major achievement.
Christy Geromboux is the Non Playing Captain of the Girls team.
Joint Office Manager role at the CBC
Lesley Gunson has decided to retire from her role as Joint Manager at the CBC on 21 July this year. Since taking on the role in late 2012 she has made a major contribution to the smooth running and growth of the Club. She will be greatly missed.
As a result the Committee is actively seeking someone who can work 10-15 hours a week alongside Kerry. In particular the Committee is looking for someone with a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, the ability to learn, use and maintain specific Bridge related software and experience using financial software, eg MYOB or Xero and manage a payroll.

Wednesday Evening Sessions
If newer players are wishing to improve their bridge, then Wednesday nights provide an ideal time. Wednesday night bridge players are welcoming and sociable. If you feel a bit nervous we can arrange for you to play with a mentor for a couple of weeks. Please contact Chris Tough if you want a mentor. We are also going to bring in some novel ideas over the coming months.
1. Ask Richard
Richard Hills has offered to give short lectures on a monthly basis on any aspect of bridge that people wish to discuss. These short talks will be held before the bridge session from 6.45 – 7.15. Feel free to send him an email. Hopefully this will commence on the last Wednesday in May.
2. Pizza night.
In association with Richard’s short lecture why not join us for Pizzas from 6.30 pm. If you wish to participate please send your email contact to Chris Tough. We will need to have an indication of your attendance so that we can order the pizzas to be available on time. Note, this is a member funded activity and should cost you no more than $5.
3. We are investigating the introduction of a monthly accumulation Masterpoint (MP) event on the last Wednesday night of the month. This will be an event that continues over the whole year with the person with the highest accumulated MP’s being awarded a trophy at the end of the year. People will have to play a minimum number of nights to be considered for the prize. Further details to come.
4. Wednesday night now runs a handicap result in parallel with the normal winners.
Later in the year we are also looking at running a team’s event on one or two nights. This will be an introduction to team Bridge and Richard will run a short lesson on team scoring and team tactics prior to such an event. Watch this space for more
