What is Bridge? Why should I learn to play?

Bridge is a card game, played with 4 people. It can be played at home, or in larger groups which rotate tables to play multiple opponents. It continues to be one of the most popular card games played since the 1930's!

Similar to other card games like 500, Bridge uses a standard deck of cards and sorts them into Suits and card-values. High cards and a 'trump suit' win the round! Each game begins with 'bidding' to select the 'trump suit' and how many rounds the team needs to win to achieve their 'contract bid'.

Don't worry if you don't understand all these terms! Our lessons will introduce you to these terms and how to play.

Can you win all 13 rounds of a game? If you can, then you have made a Grand Slam!

Don't think you're a "Bridge Person"?

Youth Bridge Players

No such thing! Anyone can learn to play bridge and enjoy it! Our club has young teenagers through to those approaching their Queen's Telegraph! You're never "too young" or "too old".

The only limitation is your willingness to take up the challenge to learn.
So come on and learn! What have you got to lose?

Did you know there is a competition level in Australia and internationally specifically for under 25 years old?

That's right! A youth group for Bridge playing! Our club is lucky to boast a number of international-level youth players, as well as some up-and-coming-stars making their names. And the best part? They are friendly, welcoming and help each other improve.
