Morning Tea for Lesley

As most of you will know Lesley Gunson retired from her role as Joint Manager from the Club last week. We are having a morning tea next Thursday 3 August to say ‘thank you’ for the wonderful work she has done for us.
It will be held during next Thursday’s session at approx 10.30am – we would appreciate it if members would bring a plate to share.

Upcoming Events

Wednesday Nights

  • GREEN Masterpoints accumulate till November. People need to play in 4 out of the 6 nights to qualify for the end of year prize.
  • Our next Lecture/Pizza night will be Wednesday 2nd August at 6.30 pm when Richard Hills will discuss anecdotes and interesting hands from the ANC.
  • If you want Pizza please contact Chris Tough (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) by Midday Tuesday 1st August.
  • Pizza/Talk from 6.30pm, bridge commences at 7.15pm.

GNOT Qualifying event – Tuesday evenings 1st, 8th and 15th August

  • This event is a competition that qualifies pairs to the Gala Pairs on Sunday 15th October. The event features GOLD Masterpoints and will be run with Swiss Butler scoring.
  • The entry list is on the notice board in the Barry Turner room.

ACT Womens, Mens and Mixed Matchpoint Pairs – Thursday evenings 3rd, 10th and 17th August.

  • This event features RED Masterpoints.
  • Please note, entries close at 10.00 pm on Wednesday 2nd August.
  • The entry list is on the notice board in the Barry Turner room.

The next two series of Beginner Lessons

  • Commence: Monday August 21 at 7.00pm and Thursday August 24 at 10.00am.
  • Each session takes 2 hours.

Please let your friends know.
CBC is offering 10% off beginner lessons for those with a Seniors card.

Master the Basics

  • These lessons start at 9.15am sharp.
  • The next lesson is Wednesday August 2 with Barb Toohey. The topic is Transfers – “Major suit transfers”.
  • Stay and play in the session following starting at 10.00am.

Supervised Sessions

Supervised sessions, with a lesson preceding the play, are on:

  • Monday nights at 7pm, and
  • Thursday mornings at 9.30am.

Short Notice Players Needed

If you are able to be called at short notice to be a fill-in, please contact the office. If you could provide your name, contact details, and session times you are available, we will retain these to call you if there is a need for a fill-in on your available days.

BFACT Interclub Teams Senior/Intermediate

  • 1st John Donovan, Lynne Moss, Terry Heming & Ian Dalziell.

Women’s Butler – Stage 2

  • Currently Margaret Bourke & Sue Lusk are coming first with 3 rounds to go.

Seniors’ Butler – Stage 2

  • Currently George Kozakos & Ian Robinson are coming 1st,
    and Bernard Waters & Stephen Mendick are running 3rd - with 3 rounds to go

Open Butler – Stage 2

  • Currently Ian Thomson & Ron Klinger are coming 4th in this event – with 3 rounds to go.

The Interstate Seniors’ Team members Richard Brightling, David Hoffman, Ian Robinson, George Kozakos,
Stephen Mendick & Bernard Waters were runners up to the NSW team.
